“One Little Word” takes its name from the third stanza of Dr. Martin Luther’s most well-known hymn, “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God.”
Though hoards of devils fill the land
All threat’ning to devour us,
We tremble not, unmoved we stand;
They cannot overpower us.
Let this world’s tyrant rage;
In battle we’ll engage!
His might is doomed to fail;
God’s judgment must prevail!
One little word subdues him.

Lutheran Christians believe that there is great power in the Word of God (the Incarnate Word, the Written Word and the Proclaimed Word). This blog is an attempt to explore the power of that Word, as we reflect on Biblical texts, theological issues and congregational life.
“One Little Word” is a blog dedicated to the weekly (mostly) devotional messages and occasional theological ramblings of Pastor David J. Risendal.
It also contains periodic musings related to congregational life in the ELCA, in the Denver area, and at Saint Peter Lutheran Church in Greenwood Village, Colorado.
Pastor Risendal is entirely responsible for the posted content of this blog, and the opinions expressed here are not necessarily opinions held by members of Saint Peter Lutheran Church or the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
