Blessed Are You

Date: January 29, 2017Liturgical Day: The Fourth Sunday after Epiphany; Year A

faithfully distressed God declares: "Blessed are you" yours is the kingdom

Summary: The depiction of blessedness offered by Jesus contrasts sharply with that of the world. In our distress, we are blessed by the presence and power of God in our lives. As faithful people, we are committed to being instruments of God's blessing for others. We live this out at home, in the neighborhood, at work and school, in the nation and in the world.

Some discussion Questions: 1. How can we be a blessing in the lives of those who surround us in this world? 2. In First Corinthians 1:18-31, How does Paul draw the distinction between a worldly point-of-view and a faithful point-of-view? 3. In Micah 6:1-6, what does the prophet say about what it looks like to be God’s blessing to those in need?
